DISCLAIMER!!!! If you have wandered here because I gave you are card at Niagara Falls Comic con first off 'Woohoo!' you didn't just throw it out and that alone makes me happy, lol. Anyways, I still haven't finished going through the pictures I took at Anime North, that last con I went to before this back at the end of May, so it might be a week or two (or three) before anything make it up onto there from NFCC. From the looks of things I only have about 3 images that are 'wow I failed at camera' so to the people that are in those images I accept your scorn with the shame that is due. That being said even though a lot of stuff may seem to get posted onto my galleries here the majority of stuff goes up on my group's facebook page
www.facebook.com/pages/Lockpor… and it goes up a lot sooner there than it does here. Stuff should be up there in the next 3 to 4 days so please feel free to check there. I guess the point of the disclaimer is that I'm slow and I'm sorry.
It was my first time going to a comic con so while I had fun I wasn't really sure what to expect. I drove there Saturday hoping to observe the costume contest but upon seeing the size of the line and feeling the heat I turned around and decided to scout some areas on the Niagara gorge for fun and future use. So basically instead of dying in a line outside a convention center I almost died on the oh so well maintained and safe path leading down to the Niagara gorge.
Sunday went much better. Got in no problem. Wandered around looking at stuff, taking pictures of people, and periodically talking to them. Had a brief moment of quasi panic when I realized that I no long had my lens bag with my 35mm prime, which once again I didn't use because of space and lazy, but after asking a few people I was directed to the box office. As soon as I walked up I could see somebody had turned it in so sadness was averted.
Aside from to say that I did have fun I'm not really sure how I would rate the con simply because the only things I have to compare it to are anime conventions and Fan Expo. I also only went on Sunday which is generally a slower day for most conventions. Price wise I think it should have been $20 cheaper for a weekend pass putting it at $40 based on its small size. My knowledge of comic books pretty much ends at the fact that I know they exist so if comic book A costing $300 is a fair price in the fandom i couldn't say. There did seem to be a lot of discounts and deals going on in terms of buy 2 get one free, anything in this box is $0.50, and discounts off cover price though. I think if I had gone with one of my friends more versed and into the comic book scene I would have gained a deeper understanding and appreciation for what was there. It also might be a result of my experience with anime cons that makes me wish they had more event type things. The entirety of the con seemed to be vendor and exhibitor stuff. This isn't to say I wish they had less vendors or exhibitors, all of the exhibitors were nice, i just think they need more not Q&A type things even just to give people something to do while they take a break from wandering and shopping. It is what it is though. Now back to going through the pictures I took Sunday at Anime North. So far behind,
